An ever increasing number of site owners and developers are choosing district heating as a means of delivering low-carbon heat to homes and businesses. In order to meet the demand CPV Ltd has launched a million pound expansion and refurbishment programme for its manufacturing plant and headquarters in East Wellow near Romsey.
District heating has now been recognised by the government as a technology that can make a significant contribution to carbon reduction and interest in CPV’s range of pre-insulated steel and plastic pipe systems is increasing dramatically.
“This growth in the market has resulted in us needing to increase both our production and stockholding facilities with additional space in excess of some 3,500 square metres” said Mark Whettall, CPV’s managing director. “This means that we’ll be able to supply many more orders directly from stock, speeding up the way in which we can service our customers’ projects – as timescales are usually critical – particularly when they are digging-up busy city streets or residential areas.”
The company will also have to scale-up its project and engineering teams to support the additional demand and it is this which is driving the company’s expansion programme, complete with remodelling and refurbishment of offices, presentation suites and training facilities.
District heating systems are now rapidly appearing in towns and cities throughout the UK and CPV’s management believes that this demand can only increase over the near future, particularly in response to the Heat Strategy published recently by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
