BSC, which kicked off on 9 June, was jointly organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and WIP; it was held concurrently with the 18th annual Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, the largest lighting trade fair in Asia, and with the 10th edition of Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology.
“Building Solar China has brought together a lot of influential experts from all areas of the industry for profound presentations and idea exchange," said Zhang Nan Nan, Secretary General and Vice President, Shenzhen Solar Energy Society, China. "This is an important platform where future trends can be discovered, and challenges can be discussed.”
The conference gathered experts and professionals from the solar photovoltaic, glass and solar building related industry sectors with government officials, industry association representatives, architects, engineers and university professors.
Six specialised conference sessions, full of interaction with the audience, focused on technologies and applications for smart solar building implementation, including building-integrated photovoltaic systems (BIPV).
In the concluding panel, solar building experts addressed in a lively discussion the potential impact of China’s support for distributed power generation on the large scale implementation of solar building applications.
Meng Xiangan, Vice President of China Renewable Energy Society, said the conference, " covered the areas of regulation, policy and technology and offered a great networking opportunity. It was also a valuable opportunity for me to share the latest information on PV with industry peers.”
His enthusiasm was shared by Nikos Fintikakis, Architect and Director of the International Union of Architects (UIA), and Council Member of the Architecture and Renewable Energy Sources (ARES) International Work Programme.
“Building Solar China is an excellent platform for architects and engineers to exchange ideas," Fintikakis said. "This is a crucial occasion for the industry, where our knowledge and experience can be shared with all participants.”
The next BSC -- 2014: Next Building Solar China conference and exhibition is scheduled to be held 9 – 12 June 2014 in Guangzhou, China.
