Bureau Veritas Awards Prototype Certification for SolarDuck

Bureau Veritas, a testing, inspection, and certification company, has awarded SolarDuck the world’s first Prototype Certification for a floating offshore solar technology, as applied in SolarDuck’s 0.5 MW pilot "Merganser". This represents a significant step forward in the development of marine renewable energy technologies for offshore applications.

New research from Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford has found that smart meters can significantly increase energy conservation efforts in that real-time information on people’s energy usage is more effective in encouraging energy conservation than making users aware of the environmental impact of their usage.

WASE Secures Over £8.5M to Scale Waste-to-Energy Technology

UK company WASE announced it has raised £8.5 million in funding. The funding round was led by Extantia Capital, with participation from Hitachi Ventures, WEPA Ventures, the family venture capital firm of the European multigenerational family business WEPA, and Engie New Ventures, the CVC arm of the global energy company Engie. Other investors include Elbow Beach Capital and Empirical Ventures.The round includes £2.4 million in non-dilutive funding.

$81 Million Federal Grant To Help Build $1.3 Billion Pumped Storage Hydropower Facility in Kentucky

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear joined the U.S. Department of Energy to announce that the Lewis Ridge Pumped Storage Project was approved for an up-to-$81 million federal grant to help construct a first-of-its-kind $1.3 billion coal-to-pumped storage hydropower facility in Bell County, Kentucky. The project will create about 1,500 high-quality construction jobs, 30 operations jobs and enough energy to power nearly 67,000 homes each year.
