Spain Ten years at the heart of clean energy journalism… …and prepared to continue for many more. This is how Pepa Mosquera and Luis Merino, editors and directors of Energías Renovables (our Spanish sister publication), ended their speech at a party held in Madrid on Wednesday to celebrate the 100th edition of the print version of the monthly magazine. The event was attended by around 150 people, including the presidents of many of the leading renewable energy associations and institutions such as Protermolsar, Cener and IDAE. The celebration came the day before Spain revealed its new National Renewable Energy Plan for the period 2011 to 2020, setting out the installation of an additional 25 GW of renewable capacity over the next 10 years. | Scotland First Minister pledges to step up efforts to reach renewable energy target First Minister Alex Salmond has pledged to move “still faster and further” to fulfil the Scottish government’s target of 100 per cent renewable energy by 2020. | Panorama UK Independent review says 30% renewables by 2030 "appropriate" IPCC Renewable energy can power the world, finds landmark IPCC study European Defence Agency and NATO urged to boost renewables use Biogas UK Crop farming vital to anaerobic digestion, says NNFCC report US Biogas CHP cogeneration on the up Biomass Sweden Opcon Bioenergy secures €8.8 million deal to power historic town Asia South Korea signs $92 million biomass power deal with Indonesia Biofuels FAO launches new tool for weighing up pros and cons of bioenergy Columbia In search of microalgae-based biodiesel US USDA announces support for next-gen biofuels Agenda 19th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition EREC 2011 – Europe’s Renewable Energy Policy Conference |
