“Sombody else’s waste is our energy”

Adnams Bio Energy is a joint venture established by Adnams, which has been brewing beer for over 100 years, and Bio Group, a leading developer of AD technology. In this exclusive interview, Renewable Energy Magazine spoke to Andy Wood (AW) and Steve Sharratt (SS), CEOs of the two companies.

Dirty energies pay the least tax… at least for the moment
And, for once, it's not the ecologists who have to say so. According to the European Commission (EC), obsolete tax rules on the taxation of energy products in the European Union mean that “certain fossil fuels are taxed more favourably than cleaner competitors” since “products with lower energy content such as renewables carry a heavier tax burden compared to the fuels they are competing with”. In response, the EC has presented a proposal to overhaul the outdated rules.
