While the Japanese earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident overshadowed all other news during March, our most read stories this time last year didn’t actually focus on events unfolding there. This, despite the fact that we were one of the first news providers to publish articles on the state of Japan’s wind farms and solar factories after the disaster.

According to Greenpeace, renewable energy is a viable option for replacing the world's dirty, dangerous and terribly expensive nuclear reactors. The US Army's Engineering and Support Center in Huntsville, Alabama is soliciting public comment on a draft Request for Proposal for $7 billion in renewable energy contracts encompassing power generated from solar, wind, geothermal and biomass resources.
