WWF: renewables could meet up to 90% of electricity demand by 2030
A new report by WWF has said that renewable sources of energy could meet between 60-90% of the UK’s electricity demand by 2030, and recommends that the government sets its target at no less than 60% for renewable energy generation to provide certainty for investors. The report has received widespread support from many quarters.

Europe on track for decarbonised power in 2050

The Power Perspectives 2030 report launched yesterday concludes that Europe’s 2020 plans are on-track for decarbonised power in 2050 if fully implemented. The authors find that an ambitious renewable energy target for 2030 will be key, allowing a high-level of diverse renewables to deliver 2050 decarbonisation and economic benefits if backed by significant grid investment, demand side resources and flexible gas, but investments must start now.
