Middlebury College and Project Partners Celebrate Groundbreaking for Anaerobic Digester

Representatives from Middlebury College, Vanguard Renewables, Vermont Gas, Goodrich Farm, and the State of Vermont gathered on August 20 at the farm in Salisbury, Vermont, to mark the groundbreaking for an anaerobic digester. The facility will combine cow manure and food waste to create Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). The facility will be the largest anaerobic digester east of the Mississippi River.

Bioenergy Startup Licenses ORNL Food-Waste-to-Fuel System

Electro-Active Technologies of Knoxville, Tennessee, has licensed two biorefinery technologies invented and patented by the startup’s co-founders, Abhijeet Borole and Alex Lewis, while working at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The technologies work as a system that converts organic waste into renewable hydrogen gas for use as a biofuel.

Avfuel to Demo Viability of SAF at Jackson Hole Aviation

Michigan-based Avfuel will make sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) available to operators fueling at Jackson Hole Aviation, located in Jackson Hole Airport in Wyoming, on September 3 and 4. For the event, Avfuel will supply 7,300 gallons of SAF to the fixed base operator to fuel those flying in and out of the airfield during the demonstration days.
