WtE Industry Barometer: Mood Worsens Significantly

WtE (Waste-to-Energy) plant operators in Europe report an increasingly poorer business development, and they also expect the downward trend to continue. In the WtE industry, on the other hand, the order situation remains favorable; however, the cost increases are of particular concern. 

Cepsa Starts Production of "Advanced Biofuels" in Huelva Energy Park

Cepsa, owned by Mubadala, a public company, of the Government of Abu Dhabi, has begun to produce advanced biofuels (2G) in its La Rábida Energy Park, located in Palos de la Frontera (Huelva). To produce them, Cepsa uses used cooking oils.

Recent comments by ADBA chairman Chris Hunhe and Irish environment minister Eamon Ryan are positive for the expansion of renewable, green biogas production across the island of Ireland, but to maximize the benefits of increased anaerobic digestion capacity, operating efficiency and the use of digestate must be fully considered.

GIDARA Names PX Group Operator at Bio-Methanol Plant in Port of Amsterdam

The plant, plans for which were revealed last year by GIDARA Energy and is due to become operational in 2024, is GIDARA Energy’s advanced biofuels facility and will convert non-recyclable waste into advanced methanol. The plant is known as Advanced Methanol Amsterdam and is located in the BioPark, a location in the Port of Amsterdam.

U.S. Patent Office Confirms Patent for Evonik's Biogas Upgrading Process

The U.S. Patent Office has confirmed the validity of Evonik's patent for a 3-stage process for efficient biogas upgrading using SEPURAN® Green membranes in a voluntary supplementary examination procedure. Based on this decision, biogas projects in the USA using the patented separation process can continue to be offered and implemented exclusively by Evonik and its partners. The decision by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office also applies to biogas projects outside the U.S., provided they use the patented separation process and components essential to the process that are manufactured in the United States.
