ORPC Secures $25 Million In Growth Capital Led By Canadian Shield Capital And Hatch

Ocean Renewable Power Company (ORPC), a developer of clean, renewable power systems that harness energy from free-flowing rivers and tidal currents, announced today that it has secured a $20 million investment commitment, with an additional $5 million second closing this fall, from a consortium led by Canadian Shield Capital in alliance with Hatch. Hatch is a global engineering, project management, and professional services firm, with specific expertise in waterpower and microgrids. Existing investors of ORPC also participated fully in this round of funding.

ZooShare Biogas Project Goes Live, First of its Kind in Canada

The ZooShare Biogas Cooperative, in partnership with the Toronto Zoo, Loblaw Companies Ltd. and EnerFORGE announced that its most recent project has gone live. The ZooShare Biogas Project is the first of its kind in Canada and an example of the circular economy in action. It converts 2,000 tons of Zoo manure and 15,000 tons of food waste from grocery stores, restaurants and other businesses around the Greater Toronto Area into enough renewable power for approximately 250 homes while reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by as much as 20,000 tons per year. Additionally, after the incoming material has been processed it can be spread on nearby farm fields to support the growth of food the following season.

Today, Eco Wave Power has entered into a collaboration agreement with the Procurement Administration in the Israeli Ministry of Defense for the Israeli Navy, to examine the feasibility of installing the Eco Wave Power technology in Navy bases. According to the terms of the agreement, Eco Wave Power will immediately begin the procurement and deployment of wave measuring systems to collect extended wave data, in one to three potential locations in the Navy bases, while the Navy will secure all permits for the deployment of the wave measuring equipment.
