PG&E Teams With Energy Vault on Largest Green Hydrogen Energy Storage System in the U.S.

Energy Vault Holdings and Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation, announced the companies are partnering to deploy and operate a utility-scale battery plus green hydrogen long-duration energy storage system (BH-ESS) with a minimum of 293 megawatt-hours (MWh) of dispatchable carbon-free energy.

Yield10 Bioscience, Inc., an agricultural bioscience company, has signed with Mitsubishi Corporation a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) to evaluate the establishment of a partnership to supply, offtake and market Camelina as a low-carbon feedstock oil for biofuels. Mitsubishi Corporation recently announced its aim to mass produce sustainable aviation fuel to decarbonize commercial aviation.

New Method for Effective Compression of Plant Biomass for Alternate Fuel

Researchers from Japan led by Dr. Toshiaki Ohara, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Experimental Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Okayama University have identified an effective mechanical compression system for drying plant biomass for power generation without the need for thermal drying. Their novel method can be applied on both woody and herbaceous plants and generates a compression liquid with water-soluble lignin.

Revel, a Brooklyn-based electric mobility and infrastructure company, announced it is developing and opening five new electric vehicle (EV) fast charging Superhubs in New York City, adding 136 public charging stalls to New York's EV infrastructure landscape. Like Revel's flagship Superhub in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, the five new sites will be open 24/7 and accessible to any brand of EV. The sites will be equipped with ultrafast charging capable of charging an EV in 10-20 minutes.
