TVA’s Largest Valley Solar Installations to be Built for Facebook

The Tennessee Valley Authority has inked an agreement with two solar developers to build the largest solar installations in Tennessee and Alabama, at 150 and 227 MW, respectively. The 377-MW output from these facilities is part of an agreement to support Facebook’s data center in Huntsville, Alabama, with 100 percent renewable energy.

Canadian Solar’s wholly owned subsidiary Recurrent Energy has signed two 15-year power purchase agreements with Silicon Valley Clean Energy and Monterey Bay Community Power for a 150-MW solar power system with 180 MWh of battery storage. This joint procurement effort represents the largest contracted solar-plus-storage project in California to date.
