The consultancy firm Roland Berger has published the GreenTech Atlas 3.0 for Germany's Federal Ministry for the Environment, which concludes that the market for green technology continues to grow rapidly and is becoming the driving force for growth in traditional industry sectors.

The Spanish cabinet approved putting its new Energy Bill before Parliament on Friday. The new legislation sets out so called “fiscal measures for sustainable energy”, and is intended to “tackle the most important problem currently faced by the electricity sector in Spain”: the tariff deficit which reached €24 billion in December 2011. However, the renewables sector is very concerned about the impact it will have on the industry.

Ángel Vadillo ends hunger strike but continues to fight on

The Mayor of Alburquerque (Badajóz, Spain) ended his hunger strike on Saturday “but not the fight” he has been involved in for over 90 days in favour of renewables. Vadillo’s plight over the last three months has led to the creation of a Platform for a New Energy Model in Spain comprising a number of well-known artists and representatives from over 70 organisations.
