Finland’s VTT Research Centre of Technology has found that new wind power technology enables higher towers, longer blades and reasonable efficiency in low wind conditions.

The Green for Growth Fund has invested in two of the first large-scale wind farms in Serbia– the Alibunar wind farm and the Čibuk 1 wind farm. These projects mark the rollout of wind farms as a primary renewable energy source for the country and are the result of a combined effort between the nation’s government, project sponsors and in particular the development finance community, to create a bankable renewable energy framework for the country.

IRENA Report Addresses Need for Offshore Wind Industry to Go Global

The UK, Denmark and Germany were pioneers in the offshore wind energy sector and now are established leaders, and China has recently emerged as a key player having installed 1.1GW of capacity last year. However the offshore wind industry must be encouraged to globalize in order to achieve the 500 GW of installed capacity outlined under the  International Renewable Energy Agency’s 2050 transformation roadmap, up from the 19 GW of installed capacity today.
