Vestas is expanding its sustainability focus to address waste generated in the value chain. The company states it is excited to announce its intention to produce zero-waste wind turbines by 2040, “further underlining its commitment to make sustainability part of everything we do.”

GE Renewable Energy’s Grid Solutions business has been awarded a multi-million dollar project for the design, supply, construction and commissioning of onshore and offshore wind substations for the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm, 12 miles off the Fife coast in Scotland. The offshore wind farm project is jointly owned by EDF Renewables and ESB. EDF Renewables is a leading renewable energy company in the UK and ESB is an Irish energy company operating across the electricity market in Ireland, with an established and growing presence in Great Britain.

Northwester 2 Offshore Wind Farm Delivers Energy to the Belgian Grid

The first Northwester 2 offshore wind farm turbine started supplying electricity to the Belgian grid over the weekend of January 11-12, 2020. The wind farm is expected to be fully operational before the summer and while construction works are still under way, the first turbine has started producing green energy. The 219 MW project is comprised of 23 MHI Vestas 164-9.5 MW turbines – the most powerful turbines to enter commercial operation to date, according to the company.
