Ørsted, DEME Offshore and Siemens Gamesa complete installation of 94 turbines at offshore wind farm DEME Offshore’s sister installation vessels 'Sea Installer' and 'Sea Challenger' were deployed for the installation of 94 offshore wind turbines at Ørsted’s Borssele 1 & 2 offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. The first turbine at the wind farm was installed in April 2020, and less than five months later, the turbine installation phase has been completed. |  Extensions and repowering onshore wind are key to supporting UK net zero target Repowering and extensions of existing onshore wind sites in the UK have yet to receive the same attention from policymakers as new build according to research from Cornwall Insight. However, without repowering activity, the current ~13GW onshore wind fleet could start to reduce in size from 2027 when many Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) accreditations end. |
