Ørsted and Enefit Partner on Large-Scale Offshore Wind in the Baltics

Ørsted, the global leader in offshore wind, and Enefit, a leading utility and the largest wind energy company in the Baltics, have today signed a memorandum of understanding which outlines a vision for becoming the leading offshore wind developer in the Baltic countries. The MoU also sets out a vision to jointly move towards delivering the first offshore wind farm in the Gulf of Riga in the Baltic Sea, before 2030.

Predictions for Wind Energy Costs Drop Significantly

Technology and commercial advancements are expected to continue to drive down the cost of wind energy, according to a survey led by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) of the world’s foremost wind power experts. Experts anticipate cost reductions of 17%-35% by 2035 and 37%-49% by 2050, driven by bigger and more efficient turbines, lower capital and operating costs, and other advancements. The findings are described in an article in the journal Nature Energy.

GE  to supply 42 onshore wind turbines for CleanMax Wind Hybrid Projects in India

GE Renewable Energy has announced the supply of 42 units of 2.7-132 onshore wind turbines for onshore wind hybrid projects to CleanMax totaling 110 MW. These wind farms will contribute significantly to India’s commitment to harness the majority of its electricity from renewable sources meeting its target of 175 GW of renewable energy (with 60 GW coming from wind) by 2022.

IEA Awarded $50 Million Wind Construction Contract

Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives, Inc., a leading infrastructure construction company with renewable energy and specialty civil expertise, has been awarded the Plymouth Wind Energy Center contract valued at approximately $50 million. Invenergy, a leading privately-held global developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions, awarded this project to IEA Constructors, a subsidiary of IEA that manages utility-scale renewable energy and heavy civil infrastructure projects.

French Software Editor Launches International Operations for Energy Monitoring Market.

ENERGYSOFT, the monitoring software developed by S4E has a strong footprint on the French market, with more than 10% market share. This year the company plans to go international in order to reach foreign renewable energy developers. The company has already been approached by German, Italian or Spanish players but also by companies based in Morocco, Israel, Brazil or India, notably because of the strong and varied features of its monitoring solution offered at a competitive price.
