Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has announced it will expand its successful offshore blade factory in Hull, England by 41,600 square meters, more than doubling the size of the manufacturing facilities. Manufacturing of next-generation offshore wind turbine blades will be enabled at the largest offshore wind manufacturing facility in the UK.

US Wind Announces Major Offshore Wind Progress

US Wind, Inc. announced major steps forward in the development of offshore wind energy for Maryland, including major labor agreements to support US Wind’s first major offshore wind project for Maryland, the 22-turbine MarWin project, and all other future projects; a new port facility agreement with Tradepoint Atlantic to develop 90 waterfront acres into a new offshore wind deployment hub, where US Wind will initially invest $77 million via the MarWin project; expansion plans for development of up to an additional 1,200 MW of offshore wind energy with the new Momentum Wind project; and a proposal for a new steel fabrication facility in Baltimore County at the Tradepoint Atlantic site – Sparrows Point Steel – to be built in conjunction with Momentum Wind.

Endurant Energy and Bluehouse Greenhouse Partner to Form Bluehouse Energy

Endurant Energy and Bluehouse Greenhouse Inc.  have announced a strategic partnership to form Bluehouse Energy. Endurant, a full-service developer, owner and operator of innovative, reliable, and resilient clean energy infrastructure solutions, will invest up to $30 million in the development of an on-site 13.2 MW quad-generation (“Quadgen” – providing electricity, hot and chilled water and CO2) Energy Center. BHE will supply a comprehensive, state-of-the-art system to address all of the energy requirements and thermal management needs to sustainably and reliably power BHGH’s new 2.8 million square feet high-tech glass greenhouse being built in Southern California.

AGL and Wärtsilä Advance Frame Agreement with Energy Storage Project 

The technology group Wärtsilä will supply a battery energy storage system (BESS) to AGL Energy Limited, one of Australia’s leading integrated energy companies. The 250 MW / 250 MWh system will be installed at the Torrens Island in South Australia. It will be AGL’s first grid-scale BESS project, and the second biggest in Australia. When installed, the system will support a broad portfolio of generating assets, both thermal and renewable, and help Australia to decarbonise and transition towards 100% renewable energy future. The order with Wärtsilä was booked in July 2021.
