FloatWind Rebrands as Vidi Energy to Engage Broader Offshore Floating Sector

FloatWind Ltd, a technology and mass-assembly company focused on the rapid development and delivery of ready-to-float wind turbines using lean production techniques for the offshore renewable energy industry, today announces it will rename as Vidi Energy, as part of a review of its strategy for 2022. The company, which secured a successful seed funding round ending in October 2021, will continue developing its technology and go to market strategy with a view to raising further funds in late 2022 to support the development of its assembly facility.

Siemens Gamesa Scores Third Major Order For 3.X Platform 

Siemens Gamesa has secured a new order in India from Ayana Renewable Power Six PrivateLimited to supply a 302MW project, providing another boost to the country’s wind energy drive. A total of 84 units of the SG 3.6-145 wind turbines will be installed for the project in the Gadag district, Karnataka State.

In accordance with the previously announced vessel upgrade program, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier (FOWIC) has executed a firm contract with Huisman for a second 1600t crane to upgrade Brave Tern. Installation is scheduled to be completed in 2024.

Appalachian Power Plans to Add Nearly 500 MW Solar and Wind Over Next Three Years

Appalachian Power seeks to acquire or contract for 294 megawatts (MW) of solar and 204 MW of wind power over the next three years as part of its long-range plan to meet the renewable energy targets established by the Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA). Passed in 2020 by the General Assembly, the law requires the utility to file an annual plan with the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) outlining how it will meet key mandates as it reaches 100%  carbon-free status by 2050.
