Iberdrola Completes First Phase of Saint-Brieuc Wind Farm

Iberdrola is progressing according to plan in the construction project in the waters off Brittany in France for the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm. The company has completed the first campaign of the works with the installation of 65% of the piles and 40% of the offshore wind platforms of the plant. These elements have been manufactured at Windar's facilities in Avilés and Navantia's in Fene, respectively.

Boralex Acquires a 50% Interest in Five Wind Farms in the United States

Boralex Inc., a leader in renewable energy, has completed the acquisition of EDF Renewables North America’s  interest in five operating wind farms with a total installed capacity of 894 megawatts (MW), located in Texas and New Mexico. EDF Renewables’ interest represents 447 MW of installed capacity. With this acquisition, Boralex's total installed capacity worldwide will increase to 2,956 MW, marking a significant step towards achieving Boralex’s 2025 Strategic Plan.

Ocean Winds to Develop 2 GW Offshore in California Waters

Ocean Winds (OW) and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), through their offshore wind energy joint venture, Golden State Wind, have been selected by the United States Office of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) to receive management rights to an area of 32.5 thousand hectares where they will develop an offshore wind project in the Morro Bay area, off the central coast of California.

Recapping the UN Climate Change Conference: What You Need to Know for 2023

The 2022 UN Climate Conference (COP27) wrapped up in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt with influential officials from around the world weighing in on key topics and areas of concern as climate change continues to barrel forward at a destructive pace. The annual conference kicked off with U.K. representative and president of COP26 Alok Sharma stating that we are in a “critical decade” regarding climate change. In his speech, he called for collective “concrete action.” Additionally, there were ample conversations regarding fossil-fuel, including a call from 200 countries requesting a reform of global financial architecture in an effort to reform spending with climate goals.
