The system is lightweight and robust. The system uses a hydrogen fuel cell power generation system powered by HydroCell fuel canisters. These canisters contain dry sodium borohydride which ensure a long life time compared to conventional batteries. They are also easy to replace. According to Trulite Tech the system works in the following manner:
“The Trulite fuel cell power generator uses a proton exchange membrane that combines hydrogen gas generated by a HydroCell fuel canister with oxygen from the air to produce electricity and heat. Water vapor is a byproduct of this electrochemical reaction, but is recycled within the unit. The Trulite units can provide power outputs of 12 volts DC or 120 volts AC. “
The peak output of the units is 200 watts, with 150 watts being normal. Another issue is the cost of the units, $2,000 USD vs. $300 USD for a typical generator. No doubt this is though a revolution considering the environmental benefits to be had from such a system.
