A Spanish network called "Spanish Network of Cities for climate" presents its website

Yesterday the website of the "Spanish Network of Cities for climate" was presented (www.redciudadesclima.es). It is a platform serving the towns and cities committed to climate protection and sustainable development. "Spanish Network of Cities for climate" (Ciudades por el Clima) is an initiative which was launched in November 2004, thanks to a collaboration agreement between the Spanish Towns and Provinces Federation (FEMP) and the Ministry of the Environment.

The network is formed by 115 towns and villages committed to a sustainable development and care for the climate. Its goal is to promote policies in this direction, so as to promote collaboration between public institutions and other organizations to push those actions.

The platform www.redciudadesclima.es is a tool that the network has launched for local governments aimed at easing knowledge management: it allows knowledge sharing of those experiences and initiatives against climate change carried out by towns, so that they are known by other local governments and these can implement new initiatives.

Besides, the website is a global tool, now transtated to eight different languages so that the initiatives are shared now only locally or regionally, but also at international level. The FEMP and the Ministry of the Environment see the accessibility to the website as a priority, having adopted all the necessary measures to make the contents accessible for any handicapped person, according to the rules in the Spanish Information Society Services and Electronic Trade Law, also known as LSSI.
