The small-scale energy recovery technology manufacturer ENERGOS will provide its advanced conversion technology to the proposed Milton Keynes Waste Recovery Park having been selected by the local authority, Milton Keynes Council, and AmeyCespa, the company likely to be chosen to design, build and operate facility.
The recovery park will employ a three-stage waste treatment process in order to treat domestic household waste. This will incorporate a process to sort recyclates, anaerobic digestion and gasification. ENERGOS will be employed at the final stage in this process where it will convert any remaining, non-recyclable waste into syngas which will then be used to produce a high temperature steam. This will then be converted into electricity in a turbine.
The ENERGOS facility will be capable of processing over 90,000 tonnes of waste generating a gross output of 7MW of green electricity, sufficient to power 11,000 homes. The company already has a track record of operation at gasification facilities across Europe and specializes in small-scale clean energy recovery from residual waste.
“ENERGOS is pleased to be selected as a partner in the Milton Keynes Waste Recovery Park” said Nick Dawber, the company’s Managing Director. “We offer an environmentally responsible, community sized energy from waste solution that will ensure the diversion of biodegradable material from landfill. Our facilities generate renewable energy and displace the use of fossil fuels.”
A planning application for the facility will be made sometime this year following comprehensive consultation.
