Corrado Clini, Italy's Minister of Environment, Territory and Sea led the delegation which met with Riadh Bettaieb, Tunisian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, and Memia Benna, the country's newly-appointed Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development.
In addition to opportunities to jointly promote clean energy projects, the two countries also discussed the protection of the Mediterranean and the recycling of waste.
The Italian and Tunisian ministers drew up a list of elements that will be included in the upcoming partnership accord which will be signed in Rome in the next few weeks, ESI-Africa said.
The accord will focus on the creation of development plans, the exchange of experience related to environmental development, and the empowerment of Tunisian civil society in implementing eco-friendly initiatives.
The agreement will also provide funding to restart the Prosol Plan ‒ an initiative launched in February 2005 between Tunisia and Italy to promote the production of solar energy in Tunisia.
