New law to promote renewable energy in Poland

Poland is introducing feed-in tariffs to support its renewable energy sector.
New law to promote renewable energy in Poland

The law was adopted in February and signed into law by the President on 11 March 2015. Pursuant to the final provisions of the act, the feed-in tariff system, just like the new auction system, will become effective as from 1 January, 2016.

In the future operators of wind,-photovoltaic or hydro plants with an installed capacity up to 3 kW will receive a feed-in tariff of 0,75 PLN/kWh (approximately0,18 EUR/kWh), whereas plants between 3 und 10 kW with 0,65 will receive a feed-in tariff of PLN/kWh (approximately 0,16/kWh EUR).

Plants for biomass energy production will be compensated with (0,7 PLN/kWh, approximately 0,17 EUR/kWh), landfill gas with (0,55 PLN/kWh, approximately 0,13 EUR/kWh) and gas from purification plants with (0,45 PLN/kWh, approximately 0,11 EUR/kWh). The feed-in tariffs will apply for 15 years until the year 2035.

The approval of the feed-in tariff law represents a complete reversal of the polish energy politics.

It is also sure to be the talk of the upcoming RENEXPO Poland trade fair and conference, which is being held 22 to 24 September 2015. More than 1,000 attendees and 110 exhibitors are expected.
