According to Chen, clean tech investments during the third quarter totalled $2.23 billion, a 12 percent increase from the second quarter and 23 percent more than the third quarter of 2010.
In terms of dollars spent, investors were most drawn to energy storage, pouring $514 million into the sector, followed by solar, at $350 million, and energy efficiency, at $223 million.
As for regional distribution, $1.69 billion was invested in North America, followed by $303 million in the Asia Pacific, and $230 million in Europe and Israel.
