The EWEA 2015 Paris Expo will be one of the most important trade shows for wind energy in Europe. Siemens will be promoting its products, including solutions for wind energy plants, grid connections, operations and services, at booth M01 in pavilion 1 from November 17 to 20. Among the products being presented by the company will be its new HVDC technology. This is designed to efficiently connect large offshore wind power plants to energy grids on shore. The 200 square metre booth will also feature components like generators and controls as well as so called multilevel wind SCADA centres – digital control centres for wind power plants.
“EWEA 2015 in Paris is one of the most important trade shows for us this year” said Markus Tacke, CEO of Siemens Wind Power and Renewables Division. “We will show at our booth how our customers from various European markets can benefit from intelligent connected Siemens technologies and services along the entire value chain.”
The Siemens Wind Power and Renewables Division will present its new logistics concept at a press conference on the first day of the trade show. The logistics concept is aimed at connecting future production facilities for the 75 meters long offshore rotor blades in Hull, UK, and D7 nacelles from Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony, with existing harbor and production locations in Denmark. Highly industrialized processes for the production and installation of the plants will help to reduce time and costs.
Visitors to the booth will also be able to learn about the second generation of HVDC-grid connections for offshore wind parks which were introduced in October. This technology reduces costs arising from high-voltage direct-current transmission by one third. An interactive terminal will enable visitors to gain insights about the maintenance of onshore and offshore plants and how they can be performed in a highly efficient way. The focus here will be not only on remote diagnosis, but also on optimised operations and the analysis of big data in addition to predictive maintenance and repair services.
Experienced experts will also be available at the “Siemens X-pert Center” to demonstrate advantages of the direct drive wind turbines or how energy yield can be optimised by modern operating strategies.
