Readers of our sister publication in Spanish, Energías Renovables, have long enjoyed the often controversial and always carefully thought out views of the team of expert bloggers who write exclusive pieces for the website. We therefore thought it was high time our readers deserved the same.
Over the last couple of months, we have scoured the globe from Boston to Bombay, London to Lima to find experts willing and able to contribute articles on issues affecting clean tech industries worldwide and are happy to announce we now have six experts writing exclusive pieces for us every month.
The first expert to come on board was Tom Hopkinson, Founder and Managing Director of the award-winning consultancy Taylor Hopkinson Associates based in Glasgow (Scotland). Tom kicked off his new blog with a look at where the skills gaps lie in the wind industry, and will move on to other labour-related issues over the coming months.
Tom was joined a few weeks later by John Joshi, Head of Business Strategy and Development at FinCap Solutions in New York. John is an expert in renewables finance and opened his new blog by examining Solar Lease Structures (SLS) and Solar Power Purchase Agreements.
Writing from South Africa, energy consultant Rex Zietsman – The Ideator – started his blog with a look at how rural electricity needs can be met using biomass gasification. A chemical engineer by trade, Rex says he prefers to teach people to fish rather than to feed them. With this blog, he hopes to do just that.
Ritesh Pothan is Managing Director at Natural Energy Solutions Private Limited, an India-focused renewable energy advisory organisation. His blog started off with a three-part series on India's nascent solar industry, looking specifically at the Gujarat Solar Policy which signalled Gujarat’s arrival as the major solar source of energy in the country and a path breaker for the sub-continent.
The last two bloggers to join our ranks are Al Maiorino from the US, and Doug McNicholl, an Australian now based in Manchester (England). Al started the Public Strategy Group, a strategic public affairs and full service public relations firm, in 1995. His attention will focus on how clean tech firms can improve their chances of success by nurturing public opinion.
Meanwhile, last but not least, Doug, who is Head of Development at renewable energy start-up, Zerum, knows a lot about the issues faced by developers in the clean tech space. In the first contribution to his blog series, he sets out the challenges faced by onshore wind farm developers and encourages readers to share their ideas on how to be successful at starting up a business in the industry.
Over the next few weeks, all six bloggers will be joined by more; all keen to share their knowledge with Renewable Energy Magazine readers. These include: Ankan Bhattacharya, founding director of Sydney-based renewable energy company Terra Guardian Pty Ltd; Alex Koberle, a consultant at International Rivers Network in San Francisco; and Richard Crume a lecturer at North Carolina A&T State University, who says his aim with the blog is to “engage readers and elicit a response”.
Like Richard, all our bloggers hope to generate debate through their articles and encourage readers to comment via the website. We hope you like this new addition to Renewable Energy Magazine’s portfolio of services and look forward to some healthy discussions about the way the energy industry is moving forward in the future.
If you are an expert in any of the fields covered by our magazine, feel you could commit to providing one article every 4 to 6 weeks for at least a year, and would like to start a blog, just get in touch at: information@renewableenergymagazine.com.
