"We are in talks with industry to find a solution that continues to support renewable energy, but which does not adversely affecting the competitiveness of the Spanish economy. We must find a balance between these two goals," said the minister, as recorded by Europa Press.
Rumours that the cuts in subsidies for renewables being prepared by the Government would be retroactive has led to the shares in major companies in the sector dropping considerably in recent days, and a deep malaise among all players involved in the sector.
The Minister has set a date of 1 July for publication of the list revising incentives for renewables, but called for "patience and time" in negotiations "because it is a difficult and complex process with many stakeholders involved," in which all political parties should be included.
