According to Mr Juan Laso, AEF's President, the proposal would destroy 40,000 jobs, besides losing investments worth 16 billion euros in the coming 4 years.
AEF has also highlighted the fact that the solar PV industry has had a net positive impact on Spain's budget, totalling earnings of almost 1.1 billion euros during 2008. AEF has mentioned a report produced by Bostcon Consulting Group in which that amount is broken down as follows: 330 m euros in corporate taxes, 135 m euros in local taxes and 440 m euros in social security fees and 175 m euros in income tax from around 50,000 workers.
Additionally, Mr Laso said that solar PV energy is essential for Spain to meet the goals set by the Kyoto Protocol. AEF estimates that the solar PV industry could generate savings greater than 1 billion euros in carbon (at a price of 27 euros per ton).
Last, but not least, according to AEF the country could save almost 900 m euros yearly on energy imports if fossil fuels were gradually replaced by solar PV.
Y más: un sector fotovoltaico potente, con capacidad exportadora y generador de empleo podría obtener, según la asociación, AEF estimates that the price of solar PV technology will drop by 7% a year, thus achieving grid parity in around 5 years.
If that happens, AEF will not have to worry about subsidies any more.
