The 21 new photovoltaic arrays will be constructed at three sites through the Autorizzazione Unica process (Masseria Martellotta, 8 MW, and San Trifone, 2.4 MW, in the Puglia region; and Bellavista, 6 MW, near Rome). Smaller sites have also approved by the board of directors through the DIA process: San Trifone2, Barbuzzi, Casabianca1 and 2, San Vito, Marini, Trio, Pizzariello, and Masseria Rossa 3, all in the Puglia region.
A further 1.1-MW project worth €3.2 million has been approved by the board of directors of 9REN Espana to construct an array in Forminena in the region of Aragon (Spain). All projects are expected to be completed in the second and third quarters of 2010.
9REN is an Italian-Spanish group which was incorporated in April 2008 subsequent to the acquisition of Gamesa Solar in Spain – currently 9REN España – and Ener3 in Italy. It has developed 100 MW of ground-mounted photovoltaic arrays in Spain and Italy, most of which are turnkey installations, and has installed 175,000 square-metres of solar thermal panels in Spain. Currently, 9REN manages 568 photovoltaic arrays with a total installed capacity of 62 MW and 15 solar thermal arrays with direct tracking from its control centre in Madrid. The Group has invested €44 million of its own capital in Spain and Italy, possessing 12 photovoltaic arrays with an installed capacity of 22 MW, five solar thermal plants connected to other companies to which it supplies hot water and heating and cooling, and two small wind turbines with a capacity of 50 kW each.
130 professionals are employed in 9REN, which operates throughout Europe and has 8 sales offices and engineering facilities in Spain, four offices in Italy, and branches in France, Luxembourg and Cyprus.
