The modules will be supplied to a consortium of companies within the Kayseri Organized Industry Zone (KOIZ). The companies involved in the consortium are BESLER Tekstil San, ve Tic. A.S and HASCELIK Group of companies (Hascelik Cable, Coreal Cable and Metal Matris).
Dr. Shawn Qu, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Solar said that the agreement is the Canadian Solar’s largest ever deal in Turkey and thus an important milestone for the company in the rapidly developing solar energy market. It is also the second deal the company has agreed with the consortium, having supplied 2.2MW of modules at the end of 2013.
Canadian Solar will supply its high efficiency 60 cell CS6P255P and CS6P260P modules with power output respectively of 255Wp and 260Wp for the project. According to the company these modules outperform competing 60 cell polycrystalline modules with close to 5 percent more power production per year.
Kayseri Organized Industry Zone (KOIZ) is one of the largest industrial zones (consisting of areas in excess of 24 million square metres) in Turkey and has been active since 1986. There are over 950 companies actively working in the zone with 12 of them included on the list of Turkey's largest 500 companies. The zone’s management has been working to implement solar power in the zone for the last 2 years in order to reduce its 86 million kwH/month electricity consumption.
