Canadian Solar has announced it has been awarded a contract to supply 1.78MW to the Saudi Arabian KAPSARC ("King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center") solar power project following a very detailed and intense selection process by the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (ARAMCO).
Once the KAPSARC project is complete it will be the largest ground-mounted solar PV plant in Saudi Arabia.
Dr Shawn Qu, the Canadian Solar Chairman and CEO, said the company was honoured to become a certified supplier to Saudi ARAMCO and the first solar PV panel manufacturer to supply directly to the KAPSARC project. The contract represents another step in the company’s efforts to expand its global footprint and industry leading customer base in emerging new markets. It also follows previous contract wins in the Gulf region.
The company’s solar panels have undergone rigorous inspections and testing and have received prominent international quality certificates including "Desert Proof certificate-Blowing Sand Test". The panels are also covered by a 10-year warranty on materials and workmanship and a 25-year linear power output performance guarantee.
