Can Sports Shoes is a subsidiary of Taiwan-based footwear manufacturer Sports Gear Co., Ltd. Cleantech Solar will provide the turnkey solar energy solution to the client along with operating and maintaining the solar PV system throughout the term of the agreement.
The project will be installed on the rooftop of Can Sports’ manufacturing plant in the port city of Kampong Chhnang. It is expected to generate over 40 GWh of clean electricity, which amounts to offsetting nearly 26 kilotonnes of CO2 emissions during the term of the PPA. This will help Can Sports Shoes to make their manufacturing process highly sustainable and innovative, exploiting the benefits of solar power without investing any capital and without having to take on any performance risk of the PV system.
“We have been working on this Rooftop Solar Project for almost 3 years, and with Cleantech’s support it’s finally come true” said Nancy Lin, ESG Director at Can Sports Shoes Co. Ltd. “The benefits brought from this project will not only be energy savings, but also presenting our willingness and desire to further cooperate with people dedicated to working toward renewable energy and decarbonisation. As Net-Zero has become Manufacturing Industry long-term target, we look forward to continue expanding the Solar Panel installation in our factory if local regulation and our consumption allows.”
Raju Shukla, Founder and CEO of Cleantech Solar, added that the solar solution will be immensely beneficial to the industry-leading sports shoe manufacturer, helping them power operations in a clean and environment-friendly manner.
“It is indeed a pleasure to be the solar partner for Can Sports Shoes Co. Ltd. in Cambodia, powering their manufacturing facility in Kampong Chhnang” said Mr Shukla. “The commitment towards renewable energy adoption by top corporates in Cambodia is admirable and we are very optimistic about our growing footprint in the country. We congratulate Can Sports Shoes on their decision to go solar and look forward to the successful commissioning of the solar PV system.”
