Germany to provide $150 million for Egyptian renewables, report says.

A tantilyzingly brief report on a reliable African news site says the government of Germany has agreed to provide Egypt with $150 million in funding for the development of wind and solar projects in the country.

The report on AllAfrica.com quotes Fayza Abul-NAga, Egypt's Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, as saying the German government will provide $65 million to help further the development of the Kom Ombo solar power project, and another $85 million for a wind farm project in the Gulf of Suez.

The agreement will be formally announced and signed at a ceremony to be held at date to be determined.
