The firm completed the development of twelve different projects across the Southwest of England, in just nine weeks, commencing construction on 15 January and connecting the facilities to the grid on 31 March.
According to the company so swift was the pace of work done by 500 construction trades people and a total of 27 subcontractors that this is one the largest PV installations to be completed in so short time.
The total investment in the project was about £50 million.
Together, the 12 projects will produce approximately 38 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year. This corresponds to the consumption of a city with a population of 50,000 people while avoiding the emission of 33,583 tons of CO2 per year.
The projects required the installation of 180,000 solar panels, 1.3 million meters of cabling, and more that 2,000 tons of steel framework.
Grupotec UK has been operating in the UK large scale solar market for over than two years and in that time has grown to become one of the biggest EPC companies. With the recent projects the company’s total installed capacity now stands at 60 MW.
