Hanwha has partnered with UK solar developer Lark Energy supplying the company with 58,000 of its Q.PRO-G3 series modules to the ‘Ellough’ solar farm located in Suffolk. Lark Energy’s sister company Deepings Building & Plumbing Supplies provided the Q CELLS modules, inverters and cables and Armstrong Energy arranged the finance for the project at very short notice in order to meet the UK ROC deadline in March this year.
Lark Energy decided to use the Q CELLS Q.PRO-G3 modules because of its high yield and Hanwha’s financial stability according to Paul Adams, Lark Energy’s Deputy Managing Director. The company focuses on financing, developing and installing large scale, commercial solar projects. The Ellough solar farm is expected to provide clean solar power for around 4,400 local households while saving around 10,400 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
“The UK is likely to become the No. 1 European PV market in 2014 and British customers increasingly value premium quality products securing reliable and long-term yields” said Hanwha Q CELLS' director of sales for UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, Jonathan Goose. “In this context we are glad to supply our “Engineered in Germany” solar modules for yet another PV project in the country and to contribute to the government’s aim of making solar energy central to the country’s renewable energy expansion.”
Lark Energy is part of the Larkfleet Group of companies, a privately owned construction and development group based in the East Midlands. The company specializes in the design and installation of high quality commercial and utility-scale solar PV systems and has particular expertise in financing, developing and installing solar projects for its clients, partners and investors.
The company has installed over 140 MWp of PV across the UK since June 2011, including the largest solar farm in the country at Wymeswold. The company has a further 100 MWp of solar farms consented, making it one of the UK’s market leaders in the solar sector.
