juwi India Renewable Energies Pvt. Ltd., headquartered in the city known as the IT-capital of India, is seen as intensifying The juwi-Group’s activities in the international solar energy sector. Beginning in 2011, the company is planning a number of photovoltaic power projects in India that it believes will serve as stepping stones to similar projects in other South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries.
The Bangalore office will oversee the entire development process in these countries, from acquisition of suitable land to the completion of the power plant, the company said.
“India currently provides excellent conditions for the solar industry and the country has the most attractive market in all of Asia,” said Rajesh Bhat, President of the juwi subsidiary in India.
“As one of the leading developers, juwi’s opportunities there are outstanding. If the conditions remain that attractive or even continue to improve, we will certainly create a lot of new jobs in our Indian offices,” he said.
Amiram Roth-Deblon and Dirk Lamottke, Directors of juwi India Renewable Energies, enthusiastically predicted the company’s activities in India will contribute greatly to the world’s shift toward a more sustainable future.
The Indian government is planning to increase the total installed capacity of solar energy to 20,000 MW in the year 2022. As a result, juwi is expecting to experience strong growth in the country over the next two years, and has already said the opening of additional regional offices is a possibility.
Based on these promising conditions in India, as well as its expertise in developing and implementing renewable energy projects worldwide, juwi expects to experience strong growth throughout the region.
But India isn’t the only market in which juwi expects dynamic growth. Earlier this year the company also entered the promising solar markets of Slovakia and Bulgaria for the first time.
Founded by Matthias Willenbacher and Fred Jung as a two-person operation focusing on wind farm project development, The juwi-Group has quickly grown into an internationally active group with approximately 1000 employees worldwide and a turnover of about €900 million.
In addition to solar, wind and bio energy, juwi also specializes in hydropower and geothermal energy. To date, juwi has installed more than 400 wind turbines producing a total output of over 650 MW; In the solar sector, it has built more than 1,400 PV systems with a total capacity of over 600 MW.
Headquartered in Germany, the company also has subsidiaries in France, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Greece, Poland, India, the US and Costa Rica.
