Kajima Poland and Hymon complete 11.6 MW solar PV plant for NGK Ceramics Polska

Polish solar PV installers Hymon have partnered with contractor Kajima Poland to complete the construction of a new solar PV plant for a facility operated by Japanese automotive components manufacturer NGK Ceramics Polska in Dąbrowa Górnicza, southern Poland.

The photovoltaic power plant will provide renewable energy for the local manufacturing activities of NGK Ceramics Polska. In total, around 20,000 panels have been installed covering a total area of 51,000 square metres, alongside two transformer stations and an MV substation. The new power plant will produce 11,600 MWh of energy annually, helping NGK to achieve carbon neutrality through its transition to generating energy from renewable sources, including solar power.

Kajima Poland supervised the entire construction process, including the development of the detailed design and construction design, and secured all necessary permits for the project. Hymon was responsible for the supply and installation of the panels, inverters and substructures. Kajima Poland is a general contractor operating in Poland and is part of Kajima Europe - an investor, developer and construction company. As part of Kajima Europe, comprehensive design and general construction services are also provided by Kajima Czech Design and Construction s. r. o. and Kajima Deutschland GmbH.

“We are extremely proud that NGK Ceramics Poland decided to entrust us with the implementation of this investment, as it was Kajima Poland that was responsible for the first phase of the plant's construction in 2016-2017, as well as its expansion in 2017-2018” said Maciej Runkiewicz, President of Kajima Poland. “Thus the client’s decision to work with us once again is a confirmation of the high quality of our services. I would add that it is also of great value to us to work with our main subcontractor on this project, Hymon as part of the wider operations of the Kajima brand. For the construction of the photovoltaic power plant for NGK, our many years of experience in building on various soils, including rocky ones, found here proved useful. In collaboration with Hymon, we developed a customised work technology and quality assurance plan for the foundation of the structure, which reduced the execution time and associated costs by, among other things, reducing the number of holes drilled in the ground by more than 80 percent.”

Since 2011, Hymon has been providing advanced photovoltaic solutions and heating systems based, among other thing, on heat pumps, designed for households, industrial clients, and corporate customers. So far, the company has completed over 80,000 installation projects, playing a significant role in the energy transition process in Poland. These solutions enable the efficient conversion of solar energy into electricity or heat, significantly contributing to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and enhancing the country’s energy independence. Hymon supports both individual and business clients in utilising renewable energy sources, which play a key role in building a modern and sustainable energy system.

“We recognise that the scale of the project and its complexity demanded extensive expertise” added Grzegorz Rutkowski, the CEO of Hymon. “Building such a large installation, starting from the structural phase, was challenging, particularly due to the rocky ground, which complicated the pile-driving process. Additionally, the requirement to meet the completion deadline and the high quality of the final product was placed on Hymon by the general contractor (Kajima Poland). This has motivated us to continuously improve and maintain the high standard of engineering work. A total of 55 people from our Hymon team, all of whom have many years of experience in the renewable energy sector, were involved in this project. We are proud of this achievement and I am pleased that we are contributing to our common goal—improving the air quality in the region.”
