The new module leads LG’s new product portfolio, producing an output of up to 365 watts to maximise light absorption and increase efficiency. LG Electronics has also announced re-classification of its entire product range - from entry-level to top-of-the-range products – underpinning its commitment to quality and reliability, and offering a 25-year guarantee covering new products.
The LG NeON R builds on the success of the award-winning LG NeON 2. The front panel of the new module is completely without electrodes, maximising light absorption and causing an output of 365 watts peak (wp). The increased efficiency of the LG NeON R means it is suitable for use in confined spaces, including small confined roofs, while improved temperature coefficiency enables the new modules to perform better on sunny days. Low energy reduction in weak sunlight means that the modules can perform as well on cloudy days. The module design also offers a completely black version for design enthusiasts.
“We are delighted to present the new LG NeON R high-performance module as the latest result of our continuous development work in the segment of high-performance solar modules” said Michael Harre, Vice President of the EU Solar Business Group at LG Electronics Germany. “This is another step forward for solar technology. At the same time, our entire range, including the established success models, have yet again been significantly improved, benefitting both users and installers. With the NeON R, we are driving the industry forward as well as strengthening our market position amongst the leading Photovoltaic (PV) providers.”
The usual start-up loss of conventional modules has also been negated in the new models by the use of modern N-type cells, which do not require any boron. The LG NeON R comes with an extended product warranty of 25 years as well as an improved performance guarantee, which now promises at least 87 per cent of the original output after 25 years. In addition, the new module also delivers a high degree of robustness. The reinforced frame construction withstands pressures of up to 6,000 Pascal (Pa) as well as a suction of up to 5,400 Pa, meaning it withstands extreme weather conditions.
With the market debut of the NeON R, the entire portfolio of existing products has been reassessed. The entry and middle-class module is now the top-of-the-line LG NeON2, with an output of 335 Wp. The LG NeON 2 Bifacial, winner of the Intersolar Award 2016, which achieves up to 375 Wp, completes the portfolio of the upper middle class. Cost-conscious buyers receive a high-quality and sophisticated product option with the MonoX Plus, which now offers a performance of 300 Wp.
