The City of Long Beach is leading an aggressive campaign to electrify its fleet and the two EV ARC units will be deployed in support of this effort. The products fit seamlessly into the City’s sustainability plan, as many other US cities have also found.
“Cities and their policy makers all over the US are seeking to meet today’s mobility challenges with increasing urgency and the speed and versatility of EV ARC products solve so many problems for them” said Envision Solar CEO, Desmond Wheatley. “We’re delighted to play the role of problem solver for our growing list of municipal customers.”
Dan Berlenbach, City of Long Beach Fleet Services Bureau Manager, added that the portable units will provide additional flexibility as the City works through the transition to electric vehicles as well as emergency power capability
Envision Solar considers the municipal market to be an important area of focus for its sales team, with EV ARC units being deployed in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Boulder, Sacramento, Santa Monica, Santa Cruz, Indio, Maywood, and others.
The EV ARC fits snugly into a parking space without reducing available parking. Once deployed, it can then generate and store enough clean solar electricity to power up to 225 miles of EV driving in a day. The system’s solar electrical generation capability is enhanced by a tracking system called EnvisionTrak which enables the array to follow the sun, thereby generating up to 25 percent more electricity than a fixed array. The energy is stored in the unit’s energy storage facility for charging day or night and can provide emergency power during grid failure. The unit requires no trenching, foundations or installation work and can be deployed in munites.
