In November, Midsummer announced plans to investigate the opportunity to set up a 200 MW plant together with a consortium in Thailand.

As a next step in these preparations Midsummer has signed a distribution agreement with Eco On, a leading solar distributor and installer in Thailand. Eco On, formerly known as Gold Stone Energy Thailand, has a distinguished history of delivering comprehensive solar energy solutions, including rooftop installations, ground mounted and solar carports. The company collaborates with major energy corporations and conglomerates across Thailand, contributing significantly to the nation's renewable energy landscape. Eco On will distribute and install Midsummer’s light and flexible solar panels across Thailand.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Midsummer to offer our clients cutting-edge solar solutions with great functionality that address some of the major weaknesses in existing roofs within Thailand” said Ariya Sawangsri, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Eco On. “Midsummer's lightweight panels are particularly advantageous for commercial and industrial buildings with flat roofs that cannot support traditional, heavier solar panels. Additionally, we see substantial potential for these panels in offshore floating solar applications, which are gaining momentum in Southeast Asia.”

Midsummer’s model BOLD is specifically developed for low load-bearing flat roofs and the company is focusing on this particular market niche. The panel weighs only 3 kg/m².

“Thailand is a very interesting market for us and one that can benefit greatly by rolling out thin and lightweight solar roofs on its many buildings that are often basking in the sun but with roofs that are too weak for heavy silicon solar panels” said Eric Jaremalm, CEO, Midsummer. “Our panels are ideal for these roofs and we look forward to entering this virgin market together with Eco On, and hopefully eventually with panels that are made in Thailand.”
