The move is expected to save more than 3.1 million cubic metres of gas per year and cut carbon emissions by 6662 tonnes annually.
The 5.92 MWp (magawatt peak) solar project will generate 9,280,000 KWh (electrical units) per year.
The photo voltaic modules are being fitted to the canopies of 2400 parking lots. The completion date is projected to be November 2017.
