This project constitutes a substantial investment in the photovoltaic sector for the Balkan region. The Spanish manufacturer Solaria Energía y MedioAmbiente has been appointed as the module supplier, and the park will be built using Solaria’s second-generation polycrystalline high yield photovoltaic panels.
“We are very pleased to moving ahead with the first phase of our investment plan with this critical project in the field of renewable energy sources which will be developed in cooperation with one of the most reputable EPC contractors in Greece. We have a big investment plan that we are looking forward to implement in Greece through the development of strategic partnerships,” commented Jerry Kalogiratos, Capital’s CEO.
Positive Energy reveals that the project, financed by EFG EurobankErgasias, will commence in the second quarter of 2011 and is expected to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of the same year.
The operation of the plant will have substantial environmental benefits including the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 6,300 tonnes per year. This is the same amount of carbon dioxide that would be removed from the atmosphere each year by a forest of 300,000 trees via photosynthesis, says the company. It is estimated that the park will produce over 6,200,000 kWh per annum.
“We are adding one more important project to our wide portfolio of projects we have under construction throughout Greece. We are very pleased tohave been selected by a very prestigious company such as Capital Renewables for the construction of this project as it proves the quality and professionalism of our work. Positive Energy has the potential to play an important role in the healthy development of the Greek market by delivering high quality projects on time. Greece is currently one of the most dynamic and promising photovoltaic markets worldwide and a good place for foreign investors to be,” said PositiveEnergy’s CEO, Konstantinos Mavros.
Positive Energy currently has a project portfolio in Greece which exceeds 30MWp and is considered one of the largest EPC contractors in the country.
