Generating approximately 800,000kWh of renewable energy annually, Push Power’s system has significantly reduced the circuit’s reliance on grid electricity. This grid offset represents an estimated 175 tonnes of CO₂emissions avoided each year, equivalent to the amount emitted by 550 Formula 1 Cars or over 5500 MotoGP Bikes.
The estimated CO2 grid offset thanks to the energy produced by the system is also 8% more than was reportedly emitted by Silverstone during the F1® and MotoGP events combined, effectively offsetting the venue’s Scope 1 emissions.
Stephane Bazire, Head of Business Sustainability at Silverstone commented, “Aligning seamlessly with Silverstone’s ‘Shift to Zero’ strategy, Push Power’s bespoke solar roof system at The Wing advances our commitment to the UNFCCC Sports for Climate Action framework to become Net Zero before 2040 by taking proactive steps to reduce our environmental impact and setting a benchmark for innovation and sustainability within the global motorsport industry.”
Andy Khan, Managing Director of Push Power, commented, “Operating at an average efficiency of 98%, Push Power’s bespoke PV solution maximises energy capture at Silverstone, despite the challenges posed by a complex roof profile which was unsuited to any standard roof-mounting systems.
“Our engineers not only designed a custom-fit system unique to The Wing but also ensured that the installation process didn’t impact the circuit’s busy schedule of events and of course met the highest standards of Health & Safety.”
Push Power’s bespoke roof-mounted system at The Wing comprises 2310 QCells solar PV panels covering 5200m2 with a capacity of 1060.00 kWp powered by 9 Inverters.
