The projects at Rock Farm (6.65MW), Mount Olive Farm (6.65MW) and AM Best Farm (6.4MW) have been developed, engineered and constructed by Strata Solar LLC using 81,000 high-performance REC 250 Peak Energy solar panels. Collectively the three projects generate 31,320 MWh’s of solar energy annually thereby providing electricity to 2,400 homes. The farms will offset around 13,380 tons of carbon each year, equivalent to a reduction of 28.9 kilometers of automobile travel. Each farm covers an area of around 16 hectares and were commissioned in the first half of 2013.
“We have a commitment to using best-in-class components,” says Markus Wilhelm, Strata Solar’s CEO. “We are impressed by the quality of REC solar panels, and also by the fact that REC keeps its delivery promises and stands behind its product. These standards are core to our building world class facilities on schedule and to the high standard that we both demand and deliver.”
Meanwhile, the Intersolar North America 2013 tradeshow in San Francisco this week has acted as a tremendous boost to the US solar power sector. REC has announced its intention to become an active player in the US solar market which offers compelling investment opportunities and continues to experience rapid growth with 3.5GW of new capacity installed during 2012. Although the US does not have a feed-in tariff system in place, a number of state and federal government-backed incentive schemes have been established thereby demonstrating the country’s widespread commitment to solar as an important power source for the future.
