The ETN certification is issued by the Bureau Alpes Contrôles testing institute in France. The value of the certification is economic: Solar installations with this certified product combination are deemed semi-integrated systems in France, which means they receive a higher feed-in tariff.
Last year, Renusol received ETN certification for the deployment of MetaSole with modules produced by the manufacturers BenQ, CSUN, Centrosolar, Jiawei, Jinko und Yingli Solar.
Semi-integrated solar installations receive 14.55 euro cents instead of just 7.55 euro cents for every kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity that they feed into the power grid, Renusol said in a written statement.
MetaSole was tested alongside the trapezoidal sheet metal produced by the company Profil C. Many insurance companies also accept solar installations that feature similar modules mounted using MetaSole onto a trapezoidal sheet metal roof.
“We’re delighted that the combination of MetaSole and the SolarWorld module has been officially recognised as achieving the highest possible reliability,” said Stefan Ast, Renusol's head of marketing.
“MetaSole is one of our most sought-after products. It consists of few components and doesn’t come with mounting rails, so it is one of the cheapest systems on the market and is very quick to assemble. All of the components needed to mount a solar plant with a capacity of 5 kWp fit into a shoe box, which keeps storage and transport costs to a minimum,” Ast said.
