Ideematec, the German solar tracking specialist for large-scale solar installations, and Solaria, the leading US manufacturer of low concentration solar modules, have agreed to market more than 80,000 units of the new developed STS-1 tracking system, which Solaria explains “deliver an integrated system that combines Solaria’s low concentration, high-efficiency modules with Ideematec’s proven, high quality trackers and mounting systems”.
According to Solaria, the new package optimises system performance, delivering one of the lowest levelized costs of electricity (LCOE) on the market.
The ground-mounted Solaria STS-1 tracking system is designed for large commercial and utility customers. Each tracker is equipped with 20 Solaria modules; up to 150 trackers are supported by one controller. “Solaria is very pleased to be partnering with Ideematec,” said Solaria CEO Dan Shugar. “This collaboration pairs Solaria’s industry-leading modules and design services with Ideematec’s high-quality trackers. Now utilities and commercial customers can secure a total solar tracking solution that delivers outstanding performance, reliability and cost savings.”
The STS-1 single-axis tracker is a further development of the safeTrack product line, which has proven itself in numerous projects worldwide, and boasts a compact and low-profile structure which ensures sunlight is not unobstructed, reduces shading to a minimum and has highly accurate tracking precision of +/- 1.5°.
Solaria meanwhile uses proprietary processes to increase the efficiency of the industry-standard crystalline PV material it uses in its modules. “The breakthrough, low-concentration technology combines standard silicon solar cells with proprietary glass optics to reduce module costs without compromising performance,” says the company, which also reports that its efficient manufacturing techniques reduce the amount of silicon used in production, which “results in the smallest carbon footprint and fastest energy payback of any silicon-based solar panel”.
European production certification
Across the Atlantic, the company's Spanish subsidiary, Solaria Energía y Medio Ambiente, S.A., has revealed this month that it has been awarded European production certification from the official certification agency, AENOR, as per the criteria imposed by the Italian energy agency, Gestore Sevizi Energezi (GSE).
The certification accredits that Solaria’s PV modules (S6P, S6M, S5M, S6P2G, S6M2G, S6M2G-3BB, S5M + and S6Ps) have been manufactured in Europe, enabling its customers to obtain an additional 10% feed-in tariff for any solar arrays they develop in Italy using these modules.
Solaria has been awarded quality certificates for its PV products by a number of countries around the world including: Brazil (INMETRO), Canada (ULC-ORD-C1703), the US (UL 1703), Israel (IEC: Israel Electrical Corporation) and the UK (MCS).
