The six solar power plants were built by SunEdison who will provide ongoing operations and management (O&M) services. The plants have a combined capacity equivalent to the power demand for 20,000 homes. The 15-year agreement with SunEdison will see Statkraft purchase the energy and associated renewable benefits from the plants.
“The solar market is in an exciting place right now and we are delighted to win SunEdison as a customer” said Tim Foster, Head of Renewable Origination at Statkraft. “The Statkraft team demonstrated our ability to immediately respond to tight customer deadlines which was instrumental in closing this deal. We hope to build a strong partnership with SunEdison into the future.”
José Pérez,SunEdison’s President of Europe, Africa and Latin America, added that the UK solar market is growing rapidly as British citizens increasingly demand renewable energy. The PPA will provide Statkraft with reliable, predictably priced energy for years to come and will help the company meet the growing demand.
Statkraft is Europe’s largest producer of renewable energy and a leading power company in Norway. The company owns, produces and develops hydropower, wind power, gas-fired power and district heating and has 3600 employees in more than 20 countries.
