This is Alight’s second European office, complementing its headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden.
In November 2022, DIF Capital Partners invested 150 million euros in Alight to accelerate the development of its near-term pipeline of solar projects across Europe, and by 2030, Alight is set to have an installed capacity of at least 5 GW backed with solar power purchase agreements (PPAs). Opening an office in one of Europe’s most mature solar energy markets will allow the company to tap into Madrid’s skilled and knowledgeable talent pool to support the buildout.
“As a remote-first company, we believe work is what you do, not where you do it” said Harald Överholm, CEO of Alight. “With that said, we hear from our employees that they like to have an office to work from, so we’re pleased to open an office in Madrid, where many of our employees are clustered. We will need to recruit and retain the top talent in the industry to achieve our ambitious goals, and establishing a hub in Spain, one of Europe’s solar leaders, will support our recruitment and bolster our European expansion.”
Alight, which currently has about 70 employees, is currently hiring Client Executives, Project Managers and Development Engineers in the Madrid office, though positions can be fully remote.
